This is the standard DC motor found in the GM2, GM3, GM8, and GM9 gear motors from Solarbotics. It comes with an 8-tooth pinion gear, and motor replacement is a snap! The RM3 can even be used to replace the higher-current Mabuchi FA-130 motors in many of the Tamiya gearboxes.
This is the standard DC motor found in the GM2, GM3, GM8, and GM9 gear motors from Solarbotics. It nominally runs at 6 V and consumes roughly 35 mA free running, and roughly 800 mA at stall. If you’ve worn out the motor in the GM2/3/8/9, replacing the gear motor is easy — just remove the motor retainer strap, press the included pinion gear onto the new motor shaft, and reinstall — that’s it!
The RM3 motor is great for use with our qik 2s9v1 dual serial motor controller, Orangutan SV-328 robot controller, Baby Orangutan robot controller, TB6612FNG dual motor driver carrier.
This motor is the same size and can be used to replace those in the Tamiya 70097 Twin Motor Gearbox Kit and the Tamiya 70168 Double Gearbox Kit. Plus it is less noisy, draws less current and is designed to work at higher voltages making it easier to drive for most robotics applications.
